Botley Skatepark - Botley Skatepark Opening Jam
What is it?
7th June 12-4pm up at the new Skatepark on Louie Memorial Playing Fields.
Bring your family – bring your wheels.
The skatepark is here! In fact is has been here and in use since mid March, but this is the party to celebrate the fact that it finally exists. It is also a time to celebrate and thank those that have worked so tirelessly over the years to make it happen.
Botley and North Hinksey Parish Council is teaming up with Botley Sk8s and Canvas Spaces to put on the event for the Skatepark on the 7th June.
What to expect:
Speeches and ribbon cutting – Cllr Ag MacKeith who has been a rallying force behind getting the skatepark built has been asked to cut the ribbon
Jams – (mini skate events for different ages, starting with scooters, then BMXs then the skateboards) So please do bring your equipment as you will be invited to get involved. Please note – Helmets and pads will be compulsory to participate.
Stalls – There will be stalls selling refreshments and skating paraphernalia. The Pavilion will also be open for teas and coffees.
Music – There will be a band performance and amplified music for the rest of the event.
Order of the day:
12pm: Event opens with the ribbon being cut.
12:15 – 1pm: Open skate for all.
1pm: Jams competitions.
Participants to have a one minute long run, in which they have the skatepark to themselves and perform tricks that earn points. These points are tallied up, allowing us to award prizes to the winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rdplace).
First up will be the Scooter competition (young kids then older riders) then the skateboarders, and also possibly a BMX jam (depending on who turns up.)
Between jams the park will be open to riders while the judges decide on the points and who get the prizes.
