Head of Commercial Partnerships

Key Purpose of Role

·       To drive revenue growth through partnerships, sponsorship and other commercial activity, including the National Championships and other events.

·       To enhance SBGB’s commercial position, further developing SBGB’s existing revenue streams as well as identifying and securing new ones.

 

Key Responsibilities

·     Leverage the activity and brand of SBGB, to identify and secure commercial partners to support activity within the emerging competition/events strategy and across our digital platforms.

·     Manage existing and new relationships.

·     Deliver a clear, ambitious and achievable commercial strategy.

·     Create winning propositions that lead to lasting commercial partnerships.

·     Review SBGB's current portfolio of products, services and properties to identify those with the greatest potential for revenue generation or cost reduction, through partnerships and/or VIK.

·     Identify strategic alliances, commercial partnerships, sponsorship opportunities and tactical relationships that will enhance SBGB's financial position through increased revenue.

·     Support the management and/or delivery of activations where necessary.

·     Work with the CEO and Head of Engagement to enhance the digital strategy and deliver its commercial potential.

·     Enhance existing and develop new partnerships and affinity schemes to bring new benefits and added value to the SBGB membership package, whilst at the same time growing revenue.

·     Review the scope and operation of the SBGB online shop, developing and implementing initiatives to optimise its potential.

·     Support and lead on other tasks as required by the business and in consideration of your skills, knowledge, and experience.

Skills and Experience Required
Skateboarding is much more than just a sport; it's a lifestyle with its own unique culture. Ideally you will have a real passion for and understanding of skateboarding.

We are seeking a self-starting individual with a strong commercial mindset, an analytical approach and the business acumen needed to identify, prioritise, and execute those opportunities that will yield the biggest reward for SBGB.

You will have successful experience of overseeing and delivering a commercial strategy.

Previous experience of developing and commercialising winning propositions is a must, as is a strong track record in achieving significant income from commercial partnerships or affinities.

A strong background in events/competitions is essential, as is an experience and understanding of digital platforms and their commercial potential.

You will be a creative and strategic thinker, with a passion for collaboration, with exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and resilience.

 

Essential

·     A demonstrable track record of the development and activation of successful commercial, sponsorship and affinity partnerships.

·     Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial opportunities, how to identify, prioritise and pursue them to contract through the ability to negotiate partnerships at a senior level.

·     Proven experience of commercialisation of sports competitions/events

·     Commercialisation of digital platforms from strategy development to execution

·     Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentational and pitching skills combined with the ability to influence at all levels, and in complex stakeholder environments.

·     Ability to think strategically, critically, and collaboratively to support the development of detailed strategic plans.

·     Commitment to work as part of a team.

·     Practical, adaptable, and tenacious in managing multiple activities, tight deadlines, and changing circumstances.

·     Ability and willingness to travel to in-person events and to work occasional evenings and weekends. (Support and flexibility for caring commitments and/or disability or medical conditions that may affect travel to given locations/at given times, will be provided).

 

Desirable

·     Demonstrate a passion for and understanding of skateboarding

·     A strong educational background with a degree in a business or related subject.

·     Experience of working for a membership organisation.

·     Experience of grant applications and funding agencies or other fund-raising skills.

·     A full driving license and use of personal car will be an advantage.

What we are looking for
The Head of Commercial Partnerships will play a key role in supporting us in our quest to deliver our purpose of providing opportunities for skateboarders to “Skate More, Skate Better.” If you want to help shape the future of SBGB and you feel that you have the skills and attributes that we are looking for, we would love to hear from you.

This is initially a full-time twelve-month role, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. (You will be expected to ensure the costs of the role are covered by the income secured).

It is an exciting position with a growing and forward-looking organisation at a crucial and exciting time for skateboarding after its hugely successful debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and with Paris 2024 in the next 9-months.

Package
·     Salary: Competitive

·     Benefits: Pension contributions, allowable expenses.

·     Holidays: 25 days per year plus statutory days.

Base
Working from Home, with national travel.
