Job Opportunity – Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)

Skateboard GB is recruiting!

We are looking for a creative, strategic, organised and people-focussed individual with a passion for sport. The post holder will focus their knowledge, skills, and experience for Skateboard GB and ensuring that the sport is accessible and available to the whole community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Skateboard GB’s work on equality, diversity and inclusion. You will be responsible for all aspects of equality, diversity, and inclusion, including the creation and delivery of our Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan to ensure inclusion is at the heart of what we do and the gift of skateboarding is open to the whole community.

The role will lead and champion the development of an inclusive culture within Skateboarding by inspiring and influencing others, working collaboratively across and beyond Skateboard GB. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion, bringing new ideas and a commitment about the ways in which it can be achieved, ideally in the sport and physical activity sector and landscape.

Skateboarding is more than just a sport, it’s a lifestyle and culture so a passion for, understanding and experience of skateboarding would be an advantage.

Job Description

  • To lead the development and delivery of the SBGB Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan in line with the requirements of the Code for Sports Governance, ensuring SBGB is insight-led by influencing the strategy and practice of the whole organisation
  • To lead on areas of work related to equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring EDI is integrated into SBGB strategy and practice
  • To identify, develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with equality organisations and other external stakeholders
  • To champion a culture of equality and inclusion across all business functions, empowering staff members to take forward in their own lead areas
  • To improve our understanding of people from underrepresented or marginalised groups who want to take part in skateboarding, identifying the barriers and providing solution

Person Specification

  • Experience of managing professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders at a strategic level
  • Passion for and understanding of the importance of EDI and experience of engaging with underrepresented groups and/or skills in community engagement
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion policy and practice and how it is applied in the sport sector
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, understanding the role of organisational culture, values and behaviours.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and follow procedure
  • A flexible approach to work. The role will involve working during weekends and evenings and some UK wide travel.
  • A passion for, understanding and experience of skateboarding would be an advantage

Salary: £35,000 pro-rata

Location: UK, Home-based with national travel

Contract type: Part Time 2 days a week
