Selection & Application Information
The skateboard qualification journey to the LA 2028 Olympic Games starts this June in Rome.
Skateboard GB (SBGB) is potentially selecting a small number of non-national team skateboarders to compete at the World Skate World Cup events in Italy (Street and Park).
This page gives you a simple overview of how to apply and what we’re looking for.
You must read the full Selection Policy and Criteria before applying.
-
Event Information
Park: Ostia, Italy (7th – 14th June 2026)
Street: Rome, Italy (14th – 21st June 2026)
-
Who Can Apply?
You can apply if you:
– Are not currently on the SBGB National Team
– Hold a British passport (valid for at least 6 months after the event)
– Will be 12 years old or older before June 2026 (World Skate rule)
-
How to Apply
To be considered, you must complete the form below:
– One unedited 45-second run video
– Your personal and contact details
– Your competition results (2024–2026)
Please read before applying:
– Street Criteria (Appendix B)
-
Your Video Submission
Your video is the most important part of your application.
You must submit:
– One continuous, unedited 45-second run
– Filmed on a street or park course that reflects Olympic-level features (please refer to the relevant discipline ‘Selection Criteria’ below).
If your video does not meet the required baseline trick requirements, your application will not be considered. (Full details are in the selection criteria documents).
-
What We’re Looking For
Your run will be assessed using World Skate judging criteria, including:
– Difficulty and Variety of Tricks
– Execution
– Use of Course and Obstacles
– Flow and Consistency
– Avoiding Repetition
Important: We DO NOT select on tricks alone. We consider the entirety of World Skate’s judging criteria when making selection decisions.
-
How Selection Decisions Are Made
Selections are made by an experienced SBGB panel using expert judgement.
This means:
– There is no automatic selection based on rankings alone
– Your video, results, and overall performance level are all considered
The panel selects athletes who best support:
– Olympic qualification and medal success (LA 2028)
– Future potential (Brisbane 2032)
In some cases, not all places will be filled.
-
What Else Is Considered?
Alongside your video, the panel will look at:
– Recent competition results
– Your progression and development
– Readiness for international competition
– Professionalism and behaviour
– Long-term potential
-
Check Your Readiness
Before you apply, take a moment to check if you’re ready.
If you can confidently say “yes” to most of these, you’re in a good place to apply.

☐ It’s filmed on a course that reflects Olympic-level features
