Showroom Workstation - SHEFFIELD – UK Skateable Spaces Forum

What is it?

UK Skateable Spaces Forum | Where skateboarding meets the built environment

Join us in Sheffield to discover the latest research around skateparks and skateable spaces, and learn about the ways it can support your work with communities, sport, culture, the built environment, sustainability, and more.

Included in the program;

– A presentation on key findings from the UK Skateable Spaces Audit, led by the Audit research team Dr Esther Sayers and George Nicholls, and Stuart Maclure from Betongpark

– Keynote speeches from Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Executive Director for Partnerships and Place at Sport England, Sarah Mortiboys, Director of Place and Communities at Wesport AP, and Chris Lawton, Founder and Director of Skate Nottingham.

– A panel discussion about inclusivity and skateable spaces, with Emily Jones from We Skate Soton, Steve Bega from Skate Southampton, Dave Apomah from Shred The North, and Berni Good from Birmingham Skate Spaces.

– Swedish landscape architects Josefin Norén Almén and Fredrik Angner from White Arkitekter will present on their ongoing research project, Sustainable Skate Environments, developed in collaboration with the Swedish Skateboard Federation.

– Breakout sessions on the emerging practice of Skateurbanism, how sustainable building practices can be adopted in a UK context, and knowledge sharing opportunities on what exactly we mean when we say ‘Olympic relevant skateparks’.

And of course, there will be opportunities to explore Sheffield’s very own skateable public realm, the nearby ‘Marioland’ with colleagues at Skateboard GB (and weather permitting) after the event.
