Skateboard Park – Application Process

Skateboard GB is pleased to share the application process for the 2026 Skateboard Park National Championships, taking place at Concrete Waves skatepark in Newquay, Cornwall, over the weekend of 11–12 July 2026.

The competition field will be made up of a combination of different types of skaters, including:

  • Skateboard GB National Team skaters
  • Skateboard GB Pathway skaters (Pipeline)
  • Non-invited British skaters
  • Invited British wildcard skaters

Both Men’s and Women’s competitions will be capped at 24 competitors.

National Team skaters and invited British wildcard skaters will be selected directly by Skateboard GB and do not need to complete this application process.

Important: Invited British wildcard skaters will be included to broaden the depth and diversity of the competition field, helping to raise the overall standard of competition.

Who Needs to Apply?

This application process is for eligible Skateboard GB pathway (Pipeline) and wider British skaters who wish to be considered for a place in the event.

To be eligible, all applicants must:

  • Hold a valid British passport
  • Be 10 years of age or older

All skaters who are currently members of Skateboard GB’s Pipeline Project and wish to compete at the National Championships are required to complete this application process.

Purpose of the Application Process

The purpose of this process is to provide a clear and consistent view of how a skater constructs and performs a competition-style run.

Pathway skaters are encouraged to treat this as an opportunity to practise and showcase competition-style performance.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a complete application consisting of:

  • One (1) unedited video run (see Video Requirements below)
  • Personal details (via the form below)
  • A link to their Instagram profile

Video Requirements and Information

  • Submissions must include one (1) unedited run of approximately 45 seconds (typically between 40–60 seconds), filmed within the last six months, demonstrating your current level of skateboarding in a park or bowl environment.

  • Submissions do not need to be exact in duration, provided they clearly show a continuous, competition-style run.

  • Skateboard GB recognises that access to Olympic-style park and bowl facilities is limited across the UK. The skatepark used does not need to replicate Olympic-standard courses, and submissions will be viewed with this context in mind.

  • Suitable environments may include enclosed bowls or park-style courses featuring a range of transitions and elements such as hips, corners, banks, spines, rails, pool coping, ledges, or similar features.

  • Submissions will not be penalised for differences in course layout, provided the footage demonstrates challenge, variety, and control.

  • There are no baseline trick requirements for this application process. However, submitted runs should demonstrate a variety of trick types and groups, including (but not limited to) airs, ollies, spins, flips, grinds, slides, and stalls.

  • Unedited video runs are required to reflect competition-style conditions and provide an authentic representation of performance.

How Applications Will Be Assessed

Selections will be made by an experienced Skateboard GB selection panel using expert judgement and qualified discretion.

The panel will also consider each skater’s overall competition readiness, informed by discussion with relevant Pipeline Hub Coaches where appropriate.

Applications will be reviewed against the following areas, aligned with World Skate judging criteria:

  • Difficulty and Variety of Tricks
  • Execution
  • Use of Course and Obstacles
  • Flow and Consistency
  • Avoiding Repetition

The purpose of this process is to assess whether a skater currently demonstrates a level of readiness appropriate for entry into the National Championships competition environment.

As places are limited, not all applicants will be offered a space. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection.

Deadline

Applications close at midnight on 5 June 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.

Selection Decisions

Once the application window closes, the Skateboard GB selection panel will assess all submissions. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the 11th of June 2026.
