Sky and Lola reach the finals at World Championships

GB skateboarder, Sky Brown (14), took the gold medal at the World Championships Skateboard Park competition in Sharjah, UAE today (Sunday 12th February 2023), in the first Olympic qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Sky laid down some of her best competition runs of her career and put her firmly into pole position as the best Park skateboarder in the world.

Sky Brown became Britain’s youngest ever summer Olympian at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after she won the bronze medal when skateboarding made its debut.

Skateboard GB team-mate, Lolo Tambling (14), finished in 8th place after a sensational journey from the heats through to her first ever finals at an international event. The Devon skateboarder had previously won the British National Championships last year.

James Hope-Gill, CEO at Skateboard GB, said “We are hugely proud of Sky and Lola’s achievements at these World Championships. Both skaters have amazed us with their talent and their positions put them in a great place for the rest of the Olympic qualifying season”.

The entire Skateboard GB National Team competed in the competition earlier the week including Alex Decunha, Joe Hinson, Andy Macdonald, Jesse Thomas, Tommy Calvert, George O’Neill, Lilly Strachan. Unfortunately Bombette Martin was unable to compete due to injury.
