Skateboard GB athlete Sky Brown has claimed 2nd place at the World Skateboarding Tour – World Cup Rome 2026, the first Olympic Qualifying event of the season for Women’s Park. Sky topped the leader board with an outstanding score of 93.38 and was only just pipped by Mizuho Hasegawa in the final run. Sky hit 3 scores above 90 in a single event, making her the first female to ever do this in an international competition.
The World Cup event, held from 10th – 14th June in Ostia, brought together the world’s best park skateboarders as part of the official World Championships and the road to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Sky’s performance sets the tone for the year ahead as skaters begin their journey toward LA 2028, where skateboarding will appear in the Olympic programme for the third time. Sky has previously made history for Great Britain, winning bronze medals at both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
Sky was joined in Rome by several Skateboard GB teammates, including Lola Tambling, Lilly Strachan, and Tay Cunningham, who all progressed to the quarter‑finals, showcasing strong form despite not landing the runs they hoped for on the day.
Sky’s younger brother, Ocean Brown, also competed in what was his first ever Olympic Qualifying event. He delivered an impressive debut but narrowly missed out on advancing from the heats.
Niall Neeson from World Skate, praised the level of competition: “Sky continues to elevate the standard of women’s park skateboarding. What she delivered this week in Rome reflects not only her talent but her commitment to pushing the sport forward on the world stage”.
Darren Pearcy, Head of Performance at Skateboard GB, celebrated the team’s progress: “Sky’s podium finish is an incredible start to the qualification season, and we’re proud of the performances across the whole squad. Lola, Lilly, Tay, George, Tommy, Olive, Mara and Ocean all showed the depth of developing talent we have in British skateboarding”.
