Selection Pathways
Different skateboarding disciplines will operate different selection pathways for the 2026 World Skate Games.
| Discipline | Selection Pathway |
| Skateboard Street | Closed Selection |
| Skateboard Park | Closed Selection |
| Skateboard Vert | Open Application |
| Downhill Skateboarding | Expression of Interest |
| Skateboarding Slalom | Expression of Interest |
Skateboard Street & Skateboard Park – Closed Selection
Due to the limited number of country quota places available for Skateboard Street and Skateboard Park, together with the status of the World Skate Games as the official World Championships, Skateboard GB will not operate an open application process for these disciplines.
Selection consideration will be limited to:
- Current Skateboard GB National Team athletes; and/or
- Athletes holding a current top 100 World Skate Ranking.
A current World Skate Ranking provides evidence that an athlete has already competed within the World Skate system and gained experience of international World Skate competition.
Given the status of the World Skate Games as the official World Championships, Skateboard GB considers this existing international experience an important factor when determining the pool of athletes eligible for selection consideration.
Skateboard Vert – Open Application
Applications for Skateboard Vert are open to eligible athletes.
To apply:
- Read the Skateboard Vert Selection Policy and Criteria.
- Complete the online application form at the bottom of this page (below).
Applications will be considered by the Skateboard GB Selection Panel in accordance with the published Selection Policy and Selection Criteria.

Downhill Skateboarding & Skateboarding Slalom – Expression of Interest
Skateboard GB will invite Expressions of Interest for Downhill Skateboarding and Skateboarding Slalom.
As Skateboard GB does not currently operate funded performance programmes within these disciplines, there will not be a discipline-specific Skateboard GB Selection Policy.
Athletes wishing to be considered should complete the online application form and submit:
- Competition results (2024–2026)
- International or domestic rankings (where available)
- Supporting video
- Any additional information they believe is relevant to their application
Applications will then be considered by Skateboard GB, which will consider:
- The information submitted by the athlete.
- Available national and international rankings.
- Recent competition performances.
- Independent discipline-specific advice, where appropriate.
Submission of an Expression of Interest does not guarantee nomination. Skateboard GB reserves the right not to nominate athletes where there is insufficient evidence that they can compete appropriately at World Championship level.
